Irmelin skivinspelning med fjällvandrartermos och yogi-te

Irmelin har just spelat in på Kingside studio materialet till nästa platta.
Sångerna som är vår första förälskelse.

Otto Wellton är vår inspelningstekniker. Tre intensiva inspelningsdagar i vackra höstglödande Sörmland.

Koklockorna.
Otto, Maria och Karin i kontrollrummet.

Hjärtervärmare från Nås, in the making....

Mina tillbehör i inspelningsbåset.

I have opened a web-shop

Welcome to my web site www.evarune.se where you can order your copy of my brand new CD Vida.

I'm deeply grateful for the big interest I've seen so far. Thank you all who has bought the cd and thank you for beautiful words about what you feel about my music :-)

164 SEK including shipping within Sweden.
Shipping abroad depends on where you are.

12 newly composed songs with my own lyrics.

Just a coincident, or not?
On the same day of the release of Vida I got a letter from SA, with Nelson Mandela stamp and all. My pen pal Paul Hanmer is one of the long time friends who have inspired me to step up and compose and record, release my own album. During many years we have send music and letters to each other, toured and made concerts in both South Africa and Sweden, composed and recorded together.

Home stage in the middle of the hoods.

In just two weeks I will launch my new CD "Vida".

The place this will happen is a great gift itself, I'm getting the sense it's now becoming my home.
A second home or a home stage.
A place where it's easy to feel at home.
Hjällbo church is in the center of the hoods.
A church right in the middle of the street life, at the local square.

This fine space helps us all open to inner space.
The name "Vida" have a connection to the swedish word for space: vidder.

Soon time to let the boat set sail.

Exited to share happy news!

Happy news on the first of December!
I wish to give a big THANK YOU to Swedish Arts Council for the support I've been honoured for my upcoming solo-album in hard competition with many a fine music project. I am totally filled with joy for this. It's highly appreciated, so thank you thank you!

The music is recorded together with Mattias Pèrez on guitars and Anders Jormin on double base in October at Studio Epidemin. Petter Eriksson is our sound man.
My own compositions, my lyrics, and a wave of inspiration and musical ideas shared among the three of us. Thank you Mattias and Anders for bringing in your voices in the swirl.

We are so exited to share it all with you!
Stay tuned for more.

Voicing - meeting - sharing - circle Folk Voice Tradition 2014

Giving and taking in its most beautiful form. Mutual inspiration!

Folk Voice Tradition 2014

On the last day of our conference we did reflections and circle talking about how to proceed. How can we build stronger circles and voice the tacit knowledge we share? Very empowering! Wordsmith and painting artist Malin Sverige showed us beautiful paintings she created in our conference, her reflection. When her pictures was displayed the whole room started to sing in a collective improvisation.

I wonder how this could be possible in any other conference?

The past weekend I spend time in Stockholm with an amazing gathering of the tribe of folk singers. I'm been awestruck by the power and creativity, filled with new inspiration.

Reunion of friends I've known since many years. Friends from my time as student at KMH (Royal College of Music) Friends from the first ever, the glorious, the turning point: Ethno -90.
Irmelin songsisters, great to be here all the three of us!

And happy to make new friends!

We had to use english as the official language since we speake so many languages in this group and not all of us share the same language root. Finnish, Latvian, Estonian and Scandinavian languages.

I have to say that listening to the songs I couldn't follow the lyrics was maybe the most memorable for me in the concerts. Music has the power to take a grip even if there's no common language. Music is the common language and it speaks clearly about what it is to be a human.

A warm big THANK YOU to Susanne Rosenberg and the crew for empowering the diverse family of singers, storytellers, artists, holistic improvisators.

Further and beyond at Studio Epidemin

Dear music family!!!

Deeply thankful for luminous musicbuilding at Studio Epidemin the last three days.
Mission compleeted!
I'm so exited to unfold my songs to new horizons with Mattias Pèrez and Anders Jormin!
Sound engineer Petter Ericsson has pushed us with his groovy sense of humor.

I'm truly blessed with the finest musicians around me!
For their amazing help and ideas adding on to mine.
Putting my songs in the hands of two gentlemen, two souls full of never ending music.
Guitar wizard and yoda of the double base.
I could never have imagined the music that has emerged during the past three days. Even if preparation time was well done and heart opening, one can never predict what's going to happen in the studio when three music universes collide.
In the moment.

The muses has been watching over us as we've embarked on this journey together.

I am happy tired over the edge.

Eva

Petter Ericsson & Mattias Pèrez

"I think we have all had the experience of losing ourselves in music.
Where you are just taken away into the sound.
And then where are you?
Where are ‘YOU?’
When you’re not there, that IS ultimate reality.
It’s so beautiful; it’s all around us all the time, it’s available to us all the time."

Open the door to the new. Open the window to the soul.

To do list

* Play with my dog
* Bring the yogi-tea
* Give all I have
* Forget perfection
* Grow wings
* Put flowers in my hair
* Embrace the unknown
* Enjoy the grey zones

It's not the end, it's just a change.

Wednesday this week is first day in Studio Epidemin. Recording with Mattias Pèrez and Anders Jormin.
Tonight I will meet Anders shortly for an additional rehearsing. To try out some new ideas for one of the songs.

Small adjustments happen still within the lyrics.
Improvisation (winging the songs) happen more and more,
like young birds ready to fly.
To leave the nest.

Silence and sound

Women who run their own business...
In this old photo is my grand dad Sven, sitting on the table, and his mother Emma, sitting on the chair. Emma was like me and many other, a single mother with her own business.
Emma, the daughter of a miner.

Today I've been doing parts of the business side of my project of producing a solo album. I have compleeted and send in an application to the Swedish Arts Council. Deadline for this application is tomorrow. I have never written such an application before, and now I aim to release a cd on my own label. So it's up to me to take care that I at least send in an application. Competition is sky high but if you don't try you don't get anything anyway.

Here's the art side of the cd. Lyrics I have been working on since 18 month back now, some parts of it even older.

Petrichor - the scent of rain

My daily joy.

My daily challenge.

Creating my own music.

So this is the first announcement, I will record a solo album by the end of October this year.

And it's the first album on my own label.

After a long row of amazing collaborations I have decided to do something like this. Channel all the lyrics and melodies that I have made myself.

When I look at all the twelve songs I have choosen for this album, I notice there's rain in several of them.

Rain as the sign of freedom, water of life, of relief.

And there's a lot more coming too. I go to my roots, I have a lot of inspiration from my mountains where i grew up. It's also about dance.

I will let you know more as the work proceeds.
You are most welcome to  check my blog for more updates around this new baby of mine.

Irmelin goes Finland

Irmelin loves Finland!
We are in Vaasa right now together with hundreds and hundreds of other singers. It's the Vaasa choir Festival. Super nicely organized by the festival crew, many thanks, kiitos kiitos! Your dedication for the vocal music is so uplifting and empowering. Lovely to walk in the center of town and hear choir music in every corner.

Yesterday evening we made a concert at Ritz, a theater-like hall, it's a cinema with totally beautiful original atmospher. Interiors from the time it was built. A special thank you to all who came to listen with so big ears and big hearts. Kiitos to all of you. We allways love to share the stories from the sea, from the travellers, of love, of death, of joy again after the sorrow.

It's always a great pleasure to sing in a hall like this, with good light and sound and a setting that enhance focus and energy for the details in our voices and music.

I wonder if they sometimes dance lindy hop, balboa or boogie woogie here? This is just outside the big cinema hall.

We had a lovely dinner at il Banco, a house built on 1860 for a bank in those days. Today a culinary rich place to go, my dinner was ecellent.

Maria Misgeld at the doors of il Banco.
Today we perform again at Ritz and this time it's a shared concert with the choir Philomela. I'm very much looking forward to sing there. We had super nice sound!

Vaasa train station.
To travel with Karin and Maria, it's my best place to be. Song sisters, you rule!

Folkvocal powerhouse

This is the power of doing things together.
Creativity in a circle of friends and collegues at its best.
Today is the day we gave ourselves deadline to deliver the songs. Happy birthday our baby!

It's been intensifying work to refine and ellaborate our song-ideas. Let each song grow into its shape and personality. As soon as I open my computer to work with recording my stuff I can see the activity is stirring in our dropbox. New files adding, other filer updating.

We've choosen some photos to add to the full picture of what we want to say with our songs. Maria has put it all together in a document with songs, music & lyrics, texts on scenic matters and small choreography things, photos and other stuff for inspiration. It all looks so exciting now when the full picture takes form into reality.

Soon and very soon it's time to share our work in the full ensemble.
May the songs bloom in your hands, dear fellow singers, song sisters, songstresses of the north, amazing ladies! Maria Misgeld, Susanne Rosenberg, Karin Ericsson Back, Lisa lestander, Maja Ericsson, Sofia Sandén, Marie Axelsson and me. See you soon!
Concert will be on 18th of June in Stockholm.

Folkvocal day 3 in Stockholm

Today is the World Day of Voice!
What can be a better idea to celebrate than to spend a full day with these powerful and creative song sisters? A capella at it's best.

Amazing how much flow we've had the two past days. The music is coming together beautifully. We have come to the point of putting the whole set together. There are already clear links between some songs, patterns that will go in and out of each other. Yet we have to decide who will sing what, a sort of casting for the different roles.
We are four composers in this and it's definitely four unique voices with so much personality. We are also united by the roots of our vocal tradition.

Can't wait to meet with the four other singers who will together with us make the full ensemble.

Susanne Rosenberg
Maria Misgeld
Ulrika Bodén
Eva Rune
Lisa Laestander
Karin Ericsson Back
Maja Eriksson
Sofia Sandén

Mark the day in your calendars. Please come and share this unique event with us when we perform the piece in Stockholm on the 18th of June.

Work in progress with Folkvocal

Sunny beautiful Stockholm!
I wake up this morning and find myself in one of the most beautiful cities in the world - Stockholm.

The four of us composers for project Folkvocal are now stepping up to the next level. Susanne Rosenberg, Maria Misgeld, Ulrika Bodén and myself. Refine and pull the forces together. Three days of intense work and hopefully we have a unique, extraordinary, crazy, beautiful score ready on wednesday.

I have a small story that stuck in my mind.
The other day I was walking in my neightborhood and saw a man somewhere in the age of 50 +. A little bit rough looking, quite big, someone that might make other people afraid just at sight. He was stopping and looking beside the road. Then he took his camera and made photos of the white spring flowers that are growing abundantly right now.

It's a great challenge and art to never judge people by their looks. I try to work on that every day.

Between singing and spoken word

Our days of work is just over.
Susanne, Maria, Ulrika and me singing all day long. Preparing for next step of contemporary composing within the folk music context.

Increadible how the paradox of time is confusing my mind. Time went so quickly. At the same time it feels like I've been there in the sweet little village of Noraström for a long time. We manage to do so much together with the music.

Ideas we brought into our project has now been tried out in reality. Many improvisation structures has been very fruitful. We go back home now to compleete the music for the larger ensemble. We'll be 8 folk singer performing this!

Below Susanne and Ulrika are singing  instantly from a book of hilarious written text, deep and poetic. It requires long experience to do it in two part singing. We all took turns doing improvisations, and sometimes all four at the same time.

Folkvocal - the never ending river of melodies

Doing what we like most.
Singing full days. Creating new songs.
Exploring new grounds the way just we can do.
So much fun, sometimes we just explode in laughter.

Improvising music with these three amazing ladies is a never ending river of melodies where we set sail and aim for new horizons.

What happens is that we have a common ground in the folk music that makes it very easy to start. Where it all ends might be something no one expected. Four personalities but a common language.

The yellow house to the left is where we stay. Prästkragens Inn.

Springtime is in the air.

Ulrika Bodén.

Maria Misgeld.

Here you can see more, Folkvocal, Susanne Rosenberg

I don't know if it's the fresh air or all the focus and creativity that makes us sleep early in the night. Tomorrow is a new day in the djungle of music!
