Home stage in the middle of the hoods.

In just two weeks I will launch my new CD "Vida".

The place this will happen is a great gift itself, I'm getting the sense it's now becoming my home.
A second home or a home stage.
A place where it's easy to feel at home.
Hjällbo church is in the center of the hoods.
A church right in the middle of the street life, at the local square.

This fine space helps us all open to inner space.
The name "Vida" have a connection to the swedish word for space: vidder.

Soon time to let the boat set sail.

Grand mothers

Grandmothers mother. Hello to you!
Your ginger breads are the best!
So I finally made it doing my grandmother quest.

This day started at the local second hand,
and looking at what I found it's a lot about honouring the grand mothers.

I returned home with a few treasures. A fine woven handcrafted rug, with carefully choosen patterns named rose walk.
Walk on roses, rose way.

My heart beats for this type of recylcled fabric rugs.
Like a story of life
they tell about how one handcrafter has transformed clothes and other textile stuff into a piece of art.
Maybe the dress was once the must have item,
the dress to wear for a special occasion,
a dance,
a date?

When clothes were worn out they could become material for making this type of rug.

Tras-matta.

Another finding today was the little hand-bag suitable for moomin mama.
Decorated with roses.

Because it's advent I wanted to make our windows. Cleaning and all.
They have been neglected for a while I might say,
a creative woman can't have a perfect home.
Now I felt it was just right time to have a clear view. It's all about having a clear view in life.
No dirt shading the outlook.
I pray I will be given clear sight in these days.

My grand mother Agnes was a top of the line window cleaner. I mean, it was part of her vision of the home, not her profession. More of a passion.
Her skin was the softest by all compare, when I think of soft skin I always think of her skin.
Her hands, her cheeks.
She used a hand creme in a green tube, shaped like the tooth paste tube. I remember the fragrances of this hand creme, and it was transparent, not white. Like a gel. It gave me a feeling of coolness on my skin when I tried it.
Trousers and a blouse was what she was wearing most of the time. And curls in her short grey hair.

In my family on grand mother's side we have a recipie for ginger bread wich is one of the best on the christmas cake parties.
Ceremonial cake parties.
In the afternoon today we made this special ginger bread and I can assure it smells good in the kitchen. The recipie is after my grandmothers mother. Hanna Karlsson, born 1890.

Grandmothers mother. Hello to you!
Your ginger breads are the best!

Vi segla ut/We sailed out

We sailed out on the ocean of life, the shores of our youth to leave behind,
we embarked just now in the same small boat and soon we set out from land.
And under the wide and open sky we spread our sails in the air,
we don't know where the journed ends, don't know where we are bound.

But we know that every minute we are sailing forward so fast,
our boat may meet the stormy waves, and rain and snow and ice.
And when the day is shifted to night, we may in storm go astray,
and many a rose shall die away, and treasures will decay.

My joy is yours, your pain is mine, we care, we share it all,
in sun, in rain, what we may meet, together we don't fall.
You and I, I and you, we're standing hand in hand,
and when the storms of life may come, then even closer we stand.

Then I don't fear the stormy threat, nor the fiery sea,
we are two that cooperates and a light we have to lead
A guiding light towards the shore, towards our hope and faith
when dark clouds are hovering in the sky, our light we have inside.

Sung by Anna Sjöbom, Enviken, Dalarna

I wish myself a good day today. I'm sailing out.

Kram, Eva

The goodbye vulnerable

When you really need the bus to come, then you can stand waiting for long. When I wished for a moment of being near my daughter, then the bus came already before we were at the stop. Running there I thought about what of all the things I had in mind should I choose to say. I got only time for saying one thing. Even if my heart was full of things to tell.

-"Have a wonderful time there!"
A very quick hug.

I choose not to remind of such a earthly thing as -"remember your bus-card".

All of a sudden she was inside the bus.

Smile and wave....smile and wave.....
I saw her silouette through the shady windows.

With this I should relax and be happy, because I know her strong wishes for travelling to Finland, and being there with her good friends and relatives. I am happy for that.

Still I have a little tear in my eye seeing her going now on the bus.

In this moment I'm vulnerable to big sale on Noa Noa. I had about 20 minutes to go before the shop is closing for today. 70% off...then I can afford to spoil myself with something, maybe something I can wear on stage? Irmelin has choosen Noa Noa style for many times now, and you can combine clothes from there whatever year they are bought.
At the moment I'm so greatly pleased with all the vintage dresses I already have, bought for almost nothing, so I'm looking for accesoires.

I hope I don't feed the myths of the artist having no money. Believe me, I don't want to do that.
But at the moment it's just not a game to be single mother and free lance musician. I read on another blogg about a woman passionate for vintage clothing, and she said there's too much wonderful vintage clothes in the world to spend the money on an expensive phone. Yes, it's like that. It's too many important things to care about than to prio money and standard in first place. Living quality is not about money.
Amen.

So because I already did spend lots of money at the vet today, then I though, ah, let's go on.
Halleluja!

Sailing out this year: part 2. Space, openess, wide nature, horizon

Space
openess
wide nature
horizon

A seamans wife's song that is like a poetic teaching in mindfulness. It says that:

I don't want to grieve, but I do.
He will return in a year or two.
When lilies flower on the ground,
when the day comes,
but the day is not coming yet,
but still every day, time starts over again.

To me it's talking about how days follow days, creates weeks and month. Life goes on here and now and at the same time there's the longing for someone far away. Time turns its wheel. A wheel represents something eternal. The deepest things in us are timeless, eternal values.

Now I'm bound away, will travel,
God knows when I will return.
Fare well my friends so dear,
fare well my chosen beloved one.
It is very hard
when friends must part,
but no one can help,
and time will flow swift.

Yesterday I sang a concert at the Boat Museum of Galtabäck, just a little south of Varberg. With me played the clarinettist Pers Nils Johansson, also playing two row accordeon.

A beautiful open country, and lots of wind from the sea. There was a typical smell of drying, rottening sea plats lying where the sea meets land.
The boat above is a model of a boat from the 1200 century. Pieces of such a boat was found in a farmers field here in Galtabäck. Below some of the boat houses.

August in my heart

Couldn't have a better start of August than what I had this year :-)
Morning.
Mist and light.
The suburb is wakening up.
New day is here, a new time.

Yesterday we had the winds coming from Africa, creating a beautiful summers day in Göteborg. I'm going to wear something from South Africa today, to celebrate with my friend Jen who has a marvellous August-party today in Dala-Floda. Love to you Jen!

And today thunders and lightenings, short after this pic below was taken. Amazing sun this morning!

Saturday at home. Ordinary things to do. I love it!
When I organize clothes in the wardrobes it makes me feel so happy to see the hangers I found on flee markets and second hand. Favourite clothes is so much better when they hang on a nice hanger. Who is Arvid, the one who got this hanger long time ago?

August is for parties. Today is easygoing, and a cosy afternoon-party with the best friends in the neighbourhood. I don't know a better month for seeing friends, either daytime or in late night parties, to go dancing the whole night long. I had to recover my Windjam-flu but now I'm soon ready to have some good swinging and rocking again.

Monday dance, yes!

Sailing out this year: part 1

Seems like this year of 2011 turn to be a year with a boat theme. I try to summon up all inspiration for tomorrows concert at Galtabäck boat museum, and it's huge this time. I've recieved so much connected to boat trips I can fill endless of concerts with the music I feel inside. Irmelin started in January this year to sing sea shanties, preparing for both live concerts and recordings. North Sea Stories. Keep watch for that!

And tomorrow it's time to do a completely new concerts with Pers Nils Johansson with sea shanties, and it's not the same repertoire as Irmelin do. There are incredibly many beautiful songs from the sea. Some songs tell about heroic seamen who has to endure storms and thunder, even die for the sake. Some are about love, and longing for your sweetheart who is far away.

Now this summer, it's boats wherever I go. Here's where it all begun, in June.

Ahoy everybody, sing out loud and sail along!

my workdesk today

I'm preparing for Sunday concert at Galtabäck Boat Museum. Performance is at 3 o clock in the afternoon with Pers Nils Johansson on clarinett and two row accordeon, a great musician I've just started to work with. We will focus on sea shanties and seamens ballads. Most songs origin from the west coast of Sweden. You are of course most welcome to enjoy this August-sunday with us, on the musical journey on the sea.

My inspiration to sing the sea shanties has been accompanied today of rain and more rain outside my window. And the song lyrics are now hand printed with my favourite pen in my favourite book, a moleskin note book. The book and pen has the most special story to it, well connected to boats and water, and the secrets of human hearts, deep as the ocean.

Det hände sig en aftonstund,
uti den lunden gröna.
Där sjöng den lilla näktergal,
där växte blommor sköna.
Jag satt och tänkte på min vän,
att skriva några ord till den,
det skulle nöje vara.

Workday is over, and it's film-time tonight. Monster Inc. it will be, in the company of my dear daughter.
I wish you all a lovely evening.

Extended family.
Sång.
Kaffe.
Sång.
Laga mat och prata med en bästis.
Mera sol.
Mycket snö.
Tåg.
Kaffe.
Här och nu.
Glad och nyfiken.
Trött och människa.

En varm vind och en sång.
Eva
