Evas julklappstips 2014

Hej julklappstider!

Bästa service, bra sortiment, bästa knutpunkten i byn.

Colors and beauty

If you are the photographer of this beautiful pic, I would be happy to know who you are and give all credits to you.

Good morning out there. Or should I say good day?
Not in a long time I have felt so great need for a long sleep morning and today I could have it.
No alarm clock. Sleep as long as I want.
To bring in some new fresh energy I chose the photo of this woman today.

The last two weeks has been a lot about starting up a new youth club for girls where I work in Hjällbo, swedish church. Main goal is to get new friends and get energy through laughter and doing fun things where everyone is respected for who she is.
As a leader I work a lot with having the girls talk in rounds where everybody speak and is listened to. It has to do with building up confidence and empower the dreams the girls have and make them believe in themselves.
This form of girls clubs excist in many places around the world and I have books and material to get inspiration.

This new started group has chosen the animal bear to be our symbol and group name. The more I think of it the better it is. The bear is about strength and courage, and having access to your dreams. The bear hibernate through the winter and is therefor living in the dream in a remarkable way. A bear can be a cosy cute teddy bear when needed and it can be big and powerful when needed.
The bear is a holy animal in many cultures around the world. The sign for bear in sign language is to draw a cross infront of your face.

For you english speaking people I can recommend website Piet Hein.

Happy weekend everybody!

Singing and dancing the night away

I wish you all a beautiful Christmas filled with love and caring for each other.

One of my favourites, Es ist ein ros entsprungen. Somehow I do enjoy the street life outfits they have while singing so angelic.

Christmas eve is The big Christmas celebration in Sweden. Now this is a christmas when my daughter goes to her dad and his family I've got the perfect opportunity to be part in an open alternative christmas party. Food is donated by two restaurants, there will be music and gifts for the kids, and everyone is welcome. All this revelry happens in the church of Hjällbo where I work part time. Soon time to go there.

Christmas started yesterday for me at the local danc club. I have tired legs today after dancing the night away. Lindy hop and balboa, you rock!

Swing DJ Gasper Hrovat is spinning the discs for us.

Final steps in Irmelin CD-making

Karin, Maria and me in vocal trio Irmelin are just in the final steps of the process of making our new CD. It's a great pleasure to see it come into form. On Monday it's time to do the mastering. I'm very excited about all this. As usual it's also a bit of a labour emotionally. Will this music come out the way we dreamed about it? The stories we want to tell, will it be touching? As soon as the CD is printed it's totaly up to the listener, but at this point it's a fragile and yet strong walk of balance carrying something precious in our hands. A work with lot of heart in it. Everytime you put your naked heart into the work it's also a portion of pain to it.

In this process we are united and working together in the very best way. The Irmelin trio stands strong together! It's a joy to work with Karin and Maria, to unite with their artistry and personality. I learn so much everytime we work together!

Some pictures from this week:

Yesterday I visited a second hand store I've never been to before. Lucky me I found a dress compleetely hand made with fine knowledge in hand craft, probably from the 50th or 60th. I'm happy about the bright colour, even with out the sun shining through it's the colours of fire. Double layers of fabric. i wish I knew who made it and what parties this dress has been to before.

Love overcomes all

Found some really nice items yesterday at the local Saturday amusement where nearly the whole neighbourhood gather.
Reningsborg is a charity second hand who have many projects in communities where people with very small resourses can get help to help themselves. Reningsborg has projects in east Europe and in India. Give a poor man a fish and he's not hungry for a day. Give a poor man a fishing rod and he can feed himself. Reningsborg

I like it a lot because I can find nice things for a good price, and I know I become part of something bigger. So I allow myself to go for it, and not to forget, it's recycling. Good for the environment too.

Found a handmade embroidered wall cloth. Someone picked theese words out of all existing words and decided to embroid it together with the flowers, with all the time and skill it takes to do that.

Love overcomes all.

Beautifully tailored black coat from Holmbloms in Göteborg

This black coat has buttons of black pearl, narrow waist and width in the full length. I saw it a week ago but didn't buy. Couldn't forget it so I was very happy it was still there. I've searched the internet and it seems to be connected to Gustaf Holmbloms Coat Shop with records as early as 1902. They advertise they sell coats and promenade costumes.
Underdress from danish label Cream.

Sales at Holmbloms in 1943. Photo borrowed from Stockholms Stadsmuseum

Green glass is something that I had a dream about one night just after moving to this apartment. In this dream I was shopping vintage green glass for my new home. So I keep it as a daydream to, that I give in for. Above is two green glass holders for hyacint bulbs, both found at Reningsborg.

Below some tiny green glass from earlier "hunts" at Reningsborg. When it's partytime I like to serve chokolate mousse and indian yougurt dessert in tiny vintage glasses and cups so you can have many.
Perfume Shanghai Rose from Jonssons Fik och Butik in Enviken.

Vintage hangers are one of my favourites. It gives so much extra to it when I can hang my clothes on nice hangers.

Now my dear readers of this blogg. It's getting very close to Christmas and I wish you a realxed time. I hope you will spend the holiday just the way you wish to do so.

It is fun to ski

Some more nice things found at Herräng 2nd hand.

Book by Mora Nisse: I vita spår. I love the design of the cover.

Tomorrow is choir day! I realize I'm looking forward with a brand new kind of feeling. Just the joy of having a choir where I can work in a way that I wish I was a member/singer in the choir myself. Today I have been preparing for tomorrows rehersal. Written some new arrangements, there will be some new things never heard before.

Have a good laugh at theese lovely animals photobombing:

Recycling rules, vintage in my heart

I get a lot of inspiration going to 2nd hand. In this I love to go shopping! It's so many beautiful clothes out there. The quality and style is often perfect, unique, when a good piece of clothing has been used before and still look great. Sometimes it's not used at all. Just out of fashion.

Fashion fades, style is eternal. I've also found some really nice things for the home.

Pot and necklace from private 2nd hands in Herräng. Vase from local 2nd hand in Angered.

Found my mirror at last at local 2nd hand day. Ågs bruk.

Tea cups found at private 2nd hand in Övertänger.
Silky underdress found at 2nd hand in Svärdsjö. 1940-50th?

It's all about being nature friendly.
From very reliable sources I know that this weekend there has been the famous DAK market euphoria in 2nd hand in Falun. Happy time! I know people who hold this event higher than Christmas!

Good wishes to you from a rainy day in Göteborg.

The goodbye vulnerable

When you really need the bus to come, then you can stand waiting for long. When I wished for a moment of being near my daughter, then the bus came already before we were at the stop. Running there I thought about what of all the things I had in mind should I choose to say. I got only time for saying one thing. Even if my heart was full of things to tell.

-"Have a wonderful time there!"
A very quick hug.

I choose not to remind of such a earthly thing as -"remember your bus-card".

All of a sudden she was inside the bus.

Smile and wave....smile and wave.....
I saw her silouette through the shady windows.

With this I should relax and be happy, because I know her strong wishes for travelling to Finland, and being there with her good friends and relatives. I am happy for that.

Still I have a little tear in my eye seeing her going now on the bus.

In this moment I'm vulnerable to big sale on Noa Noa. I had about 20 minutes to go before the shop is closing for today. 70% off...then I can afford to spoil myself with something, maybe something I can wear on stage? Irmelin has choosen Noa Noa style for many times now, and you can combine clothes from there whatever year they are bought.
At the moment I'm so greatly pleased with all the vintage dresses I already have, bought for almost nothing, so I'm looking for accesoires.

I hope I don't feed the myths of the artist having no money. Believe me, I don't want to do that.
But at the moment it's just not a game to be single mother and free lance musician. I read on another blogg about a woman passionate for vintage clothing, and she said there's too much wonderful vintage clothes in the world to spend the money on an expensive phone. Yes, it's like that. It's too many important things to care about than to prio money and standard in first place. Living quality is not about money.
Amen.

So because I already did spend lots of money at the vet today, then I though, ah, let's go on.
Halleluja!

Soon off to Herräng!

Soon, very soon, we're off to Herräng. I will not post bloggs frequently from now but totally disappear into the world of dance. My time will for the next week be from midnight til morning. Happily my daugther got a spot at the swing kids course this week, she's so much looking forward to this! Swing kids are like a camp of it's own and I will not be needed there daytime as a parent.

So at daytime I will sleep, hang out on the Herräng beach, meditate about summer and let my subconsious work on preparations for the concert with Bengt Hallberg wich is coming closer. Yes, I've brought my song book to keep the lyrics close at heart, for this special occasion.

It will be Leo's first Herräng, our little dog. He's a young one and I have good hope he will charm people around us. He's learning so quickly, like youngsters, and he will fall into the rythm. If you have any experiences you would like to share about how to camp in tent with a dog, I'm eager to hear!

Stay well everybody! Let the summer take over, and nothing can stop the international openminded crazy creative Herräng spirit!

I love dresses, it's spring!

For some days I've been looking for a outfit to wear for the Folk- and Worldmusic Gala in Malmö in the end of this month. So many dresses I love! Couldn't make up my mind, I had to sleep and dream. But today I went out of the shop Evergreen on Redbergsplatsen with a lovely vintage dress from the 70th. I will not reveal what it looks like, but I'll gladly show some inspirational pics from Evergreen shop.
